More importantly, he won the IgNobel Prize for his ground-breaking research into belly-button fluff (and why it is almost always blue). Join Dr Karl at the Alumni Festival as he discusses how large chunks of the Moon ended up a few thousand kilometres under our feet, the science behind the longest piloted plane flight’s one month in the air, and why all the gods of metal-working walked with a limp (including Thor – yes, Marvel lied to you!).

Book signing
Dr Karl will be signing copies of his book on the front lawns from 3.45-4.45pm. Copies can be purchased from the merchandise page on the Alumni Festival website or limitied copies will be available on the day in the Alumni Festival Hub.
