Art and Play with Sanné Mestrom

Saturday, December 2, 2023, 12:00 PM - 12:45 PM
Chau Chak Wing Museum

Join award-winning sculptor Sanné Mestrom as she discusses the concept of art and risk in her sculpture playground.
Part of “Arthaus,” the playground is the product of a three-year collaboration between Sydney Nano and the Sydney Social Sciences and Humanities Advanced Research Centre and invites children and adults alike to ‘break the rules’ and physically engage with the artwork.
Mestrom, a senior lecturer and practice-led researcher at Sydney College of the Arts, has work held by the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Artbank, the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Shepparton Art Museum, and private collections internationally. She is currently the recipient of an Australia Research Council DECRA Fellowship.

Join the talk in the Nelson Meers Foundation Auditorium at the Chau Chak Wing Museum.
Visitors are also invited to engage with the playground prototype, located on the lawn in front of the Chau Chak Wing Museum.
